Compensation has been secured for a woman who was seriously injured while visiting a café during a holiday in the UK.
The woman was sitting outside the café when a vehicle suddenly mounted the pavement and collided with her table. She was thrown from her chair and hit her head against a wall before landing heavily on her back. She suffered injuries to her head and hand, and had to undergo surgery.
As a result of her injuries, she needed help from her family with household tasks and gardening. The accident also caused her psychological distress.
She sought legal advice and commenced a claim for compensation. A range of medical evidence was obtained to establish the extent of her injuries.
Following negotiations, a settlement of her claim for £75,000 was agreed. As well as compensating her for her pain and suffering, the settlement takes account of her past and future care needs and the cost of further surgery she may need.
