Eight-Figure Damages for Life-Changing Road Accident Injuries

A woman has achieved a substantial compensation settlement for serious brain injuries she sustained when she was hit by a car, as a result of which she will require care and rehabilitation for the rest of her life.

After a claim was brought, the driver's insurer admitted liability for the accident and interim payments were secured. However, offers of £1.5 million and £10 million in settlement of the claim were rejected on the basis that they would not meet all of the woman's future needs.

Expert evidence was obtained from a number of healthcare specialists and, following negotiations, damages of £27.4 million were agreed. As well as compensating the woman for the injuries she suffered, the settlement will ensure her needs are met for the rest of her life.

To protect the woman's welfare, a number of orders were obtained preventing information about her and details of the accident from being made public.
