Compensation has been secured for a tourist from Brazil who was seriously injured when a car hit his motorbike.
The young man was thrown from his motorbike when the car pulled out of a side road and collided with him. He suffered serious injuries, including damage to his shoulder, pelvis and knee. He required multiple surgeries and was in hospital for more than two months. The accident also left him with a psychological injury.
He brought a claim against the motorist's insurer. An extension to his visa was obtained, allowing him and his partner to remain in the UK while he underwent rehabilitation. Interim funds were secured to pay for treatment and provide hotel accommodation, as he and his partner did not have the right to rent in the UK. The insurer also agreed to pay for the costs of his hospital care.
A substantial settlement offer was made, which the man accepted. His compensation will enable him to continue his rehabilitation after he returns to Brazil.
