Substantial compensation has been obtained for a woman who suffered life-changing injuries in a road traffic accident.
She was in a stationary queue of traffic when another vehicle drove into the back of the queue at about 70mph. Her car was shunted into a bridge and she had to be freed by the emergency services.
She suffered a mild traumatic brain injury and was left with a range of symptoms including headaches, fatigue, visual and hearing problems, speech difficulties, impaired concentration and loss of short-term memory. She also developed severe post-traumatic stress disorder and depression. She was unable to return to her previous job.
After seeking legal advice, she brought a claim for damages against the other driver. Significant interim payments were arranged and a comprehensive rehabilitation programme was put in place for her.
Following negotiations, a settlement was reached before her claim was due to go to trial. A seven-figure settlement was agreed, which will allow her ongoing care and rehabilitation needs to be met.
