A woman who was injured when she tripped in her local town hall has secured a compensation settlement.
As she entered the building, she tripped over a bar that had not been put away when the doors were opened that morning. She fell to the ground, sustaining injuries to her hands, elbows, knees and shins. She also suffered from anxiety as a result of the accident.
She commenced a claim for compensation. The town hall initially claimed that a third party which had been holding an event in the building was responsible for her accident. However, no evidence was provided to support this claim, and the town hall eventually admitted liability.
Medical evidence was obtained indicating that, while she would recover quickly from her physical injuries, her anxiety was likely to persist for 16 months. Following negotiations, her claim was settled for £3,800.
