A woman who suffered serious injuries when she tripped and fell at a racecourse has obtained compensation.
The heel of the woman's shoe became caught in a hole in the ground and she tripped, suffering injuries to her ankle and face. Despite going to hospital on the day of the accident, she continued to experience pain and required ongoing treatment. The accident also affected her mood and caused her to suffer anxiety.
After she brought a claim for compensation, medical evidence established that she had suffered serious ligament damage and a torn tendon in her ankle. The operator of the racecourse admitted liability for the accident and interim payments towards the costs of rehabilitation and surgery were secured from its insurer.
A settlement of her claim for £35,000 was subsequently agreed.
